ന്യൂഡൽഹി: ഓൾ ഇന്ത്യ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് മെഡിക്കൽ സയൻസസ് (എയിംസ്), ജവാഹർലാൽ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് പോസ്റ്റ് ഗ്രാജ്വേറ്റ് മെഡിക്കൽ എജ്യുക്കേഷൻ ആൻഡ് റിസർച്ച് (ജിപ്മർ) എന്നിവയിലേക്കുള്ള എം.ബി.ബി.എസ്. പ്രവേശനം 2020 മുതൽ നീറ്റ് (നാഷണൽ എലിജിബിലിറ്റി കം എൻട്രൻസ് ടെസ്റ്റ്) യു.ജി. അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയാകുമെന്ന് കേന്ദ്ര ആരോഗ്യമന്ത്രി ഹർഷവർധൻ അറിയിച്ചു.
എം.ബി.ബി.എസ്. പ്രവേശനം ഏകീകരിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ഭാഗമായിട്ടാണ് രാജ്യത്തെ എല്ലാ മെഡിക്കൽ പ്രവേശനവും നീറ്റിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലാക്കുന്നത്.
ദേശീയ മെഡിക്കൽ കമ്മിഷൻ നിയമം നിലവിൽവരുന്നതോടെ പ്രാക്ടീസ് ചെയ്യുന്നതിനും പി.ജി. കോഴ്സിലെ പ്രവേശനത്തിനും നാഷണൽ എക്സിറ്റ് ടെസ്റ്റ് (നെക്സ്റ്റ്) വിജയിക്കണം. വിദേശത്തുനിന്ന് മെഡിക്കൽ ബിരുദം നേടിയവർ നെക്സ്റ്റ് പരീക്ഷയിൽ യോഗ്യത നേടണമെന്നും മന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു. പി.ജി. പ്രവേശനത്തിന് റാങ്ക് മികച്ചതാക്കാൻ വിദ്യാർഥിക്ക് എത്രതവണ വേണമെങ്കിലും നെക്സ്റ്റ് അഭിമുഖീകരിക്കാം.
നിലവിൽ എയിംസും ജിപ്മറും സ്വന്തമായി പ്രവേശനപരീക്ഷ നടത്തിയാണ് എം.ബി.ബി.എസ്. പ്രവേശനം നടത്തുന്നത്. ന്യൂഡൽഹി, ഭോപാൽ, ഭുവനേശ്വർ, ഗുണ്ടൂർ, ജോധ്പുർ, നാഗ്പുർ, പട്ന, റായ്പുർ, ഋഷികേശ്, ബത്തിൻഡ, ദിയോഗർ, ഗോരഖ്പുർ, കല്യാണി, റായ്ബറേലി, തെലങ്കാന എന്നീ 15 എയിംസുകളിലായി 1150 സീറ്റിലേക്കാണ് 2019-ൽ പ്രവേശനം നടത്തിയത്.
പോണ്ടിച്ചേരി (150 സീറ്റ്), കാരൈക്കൽ (50 സീറ്റ്) കാമ്പസുകളിലായി 200 സീറ്റിലേക്കാണ് ജിപ്മറിൽ പ്രവേശനം.
കുറഞ്ഞ ഫീസിൽ മികച്ച സൗകര്യത്തോടെ മെഡിക്കൽ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം പൂർത്തിയാക്കാമെന്നതാണ് ഇരു സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളുടെയും പ്രത്യേകത. ദേശീയ മെഡിക്കൽ കമ്മിഷൻ നിയമം നടപ്പാകുന്നതോടെ രാജ്യത്ത് മെഡിക്കൽ പ്രവേശനത്തിന് നീറ്റ് എന്ന ഒറ്റ പരീക്ഷയാകും.

AIIMS, JIPMER Admissions 2020 to be based on common NEET Entrance Test, confirms Health Minister Harsh Vardhan
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has confirmed that from 2020 onwards, admission to all medical colleges including AIIMS and JIPMER will be facilitated through NEET Medical Entrance Exam. As a statement issued by the minister, from the start of 2020, admission to all the 15 All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) based in different parts of India and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) located in Puducherry; will have to use NEET scores to admit students to MBBS and BDS courses.
1600 Medical Seats to be Added
With the confirmation provided by the Union Health Minister, it has become clear that AIIMS and JIPMER, which use to hold their own admission process and entrance exam, will not have to adhere and accept NEET scores for admission. The decision will also add over 1600 MBBS and BDS seats to the tally of total seats that are allotted to medical aspirants through National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test-Under Graduate (NEET-UG) exam. According to the details shared by the MCI, the total number of undergraduate medical seats available in India stands at 76,000 which are spread across 539 colleges across India.
Separate Entrance Test Done Away With
AIIMS and JIPMER were Institutes of National Importance (INI) which were setup by a separate Act of Parliament. This enabled them to conduct their own national-level screening test to select medical aspirants for admission to these colleges. However, with the establishment of the National Medical Commission in near future, the multiple entrance exam format will be done away with for medical admissions and instead there would only be a common NEET UG Exam, through which students would be granted admission to medical colleges.
NEXT – MBBS Exit Test
Along with a common admission test, the new National Medical Commission also provides for a nationa-level exit test for MBBS students who are graduating from medical colleges based in India. The exit test will act as a licentiate exam to practice medicine in India. Additionally, for students planning to join PG Medical Courses, it will also act as selection criteria for admission to MD and MS programmes. The exit test will also be treated as the foreign medical graduates intending to work or study in India.
