UPSC NDA NA (1) notification 2020: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the National Defence Academy, NDA NA (1) 2020 notification on Wednesday, January 8. The candidates can apply through the official website- upsc.gov.in. The online window to submit the application will be closed on January 28, 2020.

What is NDA Exam?

NDA is one of the most sought after defence entrance exams in the country. NDA recruitment is conducted for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA and Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). NDA is conducted twice a year. The exam is conducted two stages – written exam and SSB Interview. Around 4 lakh aspirants sit for NDA every year, out of which approximately 6000 are called for SSB Interview.

Age Limit, Sex, Marital Status:

Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July 2001 and not later than 1st July 2004 are eligible.

Physical Standards

1. The candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease/disability which is likely to interfere with the efficient performance of Military duties.

2. The minimum acceptable height is 157 cms (162.5 cms. for Air Force). Chest should be well developed. Fully expanded chest should not be less than 81 cms. The minimum range of expansion after full inspiration should be 5 cms.

3. Distance Vision (Corrected): Better Eye 6/6; Worse Eye 6/9. Myopia should not be more than -2.5D including astigmatism and manifest hypermetropia not more than +3.5D including Astigmatism. The Colour vision standard will be CP-III (Defective Safe).

UPSC NDA, NA exam 2020: Selection procedure

The selection will be based on the performance in the written examination followed by intelligence and personality test by the Services Selection Board (SSB).

Fee details, candidates (excepting SC/ST candidates/Sons of JCOs/NCOs/ORs specified in Note 2 below who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs 100 either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India or by using Visa/MasterCard/Rupay Credit/Debit Card. The candidates can apply through the website- upsc.gov.in till January 28, 2020

Application Process

Aspirants can start filling the NDA & NA I 2020 Application Form from 8th Jan to 28th Jan 2020 at upsconline.nic.in. For your ease, we have listed down some relevant information needed while filling the application form. Let’s have a look at those points:

Applicants who opt for “Pay by Cash” mode, should print the system generated Pay-in-slip during Part-II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only. “Pay by Cash” mode option will be deactivated at

  • Photograph and Signature: Before start filling up Online Application, a candidate must have his photograph and signature duly scanned in the jpg format in such a manner that each file should not exceed 300 KB each and must not be less than 20 KB in size for the photograph and signature.
  • Photo ID Proof: Before start filling up Online Application, a candidate must have his photo identity card document in PDF format only. The digital size of PDF file should not exceed 300 KB and must not be less than 20 KB.
