Coronavirus In India till 2nd April (11:00 AM): Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. The Coronavirus outbreak has been declared as a Pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO)On 24th March 2020, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown as a measure to control the growth of coronavirus. People are requested to avoid unnecessary public gatherings and are advised to stay at home.

Till now coronavirus has affected more than 199 countries and territories across the globe. As per the latest data available over 900,000 cases have been reported and more than 47,000 deaths have been reported. 194,578 patients have also been reported to recover from this disease that has caused a global health emergency.

Out of the total 2,072 cases reportedMaharashtra has the most number of cases with 338 confirmed cases, Kerela has 265 confirmed cases.Delhi has 152 confirmed cases while Uttar Pradesh has 117 cases. Out of 2072 cases171 patients have also been cured. Check out the detailed report provided in the below table:

Congress core group holds video conference

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) held a meeting via video conference today morning. Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi was quoted by PTI as saying, “(The) lockdown may be necessary but its unplanned implementation has caused chaos and pain to millions of migrant workers. The government needs to put in place a comprehensive strategy to manage this crisis arising out of coronavirus lockdown.”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, “All state governments need to issue special advisories for categories of people vulnerable to COVID-19.”
